New curator of FACING NEW CHALLENGES

For two years now, our FACING NEW CHALLENGES section has been shining a spotlight on forms of audiovisual art that cannot be experienced in the cinema. With Jan-Philipp Possmann, we are proud to introduce the new curator of the section. Jan-Philipp studied at the Free University in Berlin and then worked in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium as a dramaturge, producer and - as is now the case here - as a curator. Most recently, Jan-Philipp was the artistic director and managing director of zeitraumexit in Mannheim from 2017 to 2022. "I want to bring together international artists*, researchers* and students* from Mannheim and Heidelberg to enrich the festival with their questions," says Jan-Philipp about his new job. In addition to his work for FACING NEW CHALLENGES, he also forges cooperations between the IFFMH and the universities behind the scenes.

If you also want to become part of the team, you still have the chance to do so: From June 2022, we will post the current crew call for all festival helpers online. There you can apply directly for festival jobs. Most of these jobs start in November and end at the end of the festival. In addition, we will again be offering compulsory internships in the areas of programme, event organisation and marketing in 2022. You are welcome to send us your speculative application now.
