IFFMH presents: ›Cabo Negro‹
Film screening as part of the Queer Festival 2025
The Queer Festival Heidelberg has once again put together a diverse programme this year. We are showing ›Cabo Negro‹, the second feature film by Abdella Taïa, Morocco's first openly gay intellectual, who now lives in exile in Paris.
About ›Cabo Negro‹: Morocco, sun and sea. Friends Jafaar and Soundouss are looking forward to a holiday in the luxurious holiday home of Jafaar's lover Jonathan. But Jonathan doesn't turn up. And as the villa's caretaker gradually closes in on them, the two see only one way to get by. Director Abdellah Taia is the first openly gay intellectual in Morocco. In clear, almost photographic images, his new film tells of the courage and search of two queer people for a place for themselves in a world that despises them - and the fundamental importance of community.
