FACING NEW CHALLENGES

The new section FACING NEW CHALLENGES aims to encourage reflection on the relationship between film and other art forms. And makes us aware once again that film itself is a work of art, whether as an installation in a museum or screened in a cinema.

Eight of the films that were to be shown at the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Heidelberger Kunstverein can now also be viewed via EXPANDED.

No matter whether it's concept films, web formats, especially in the close-up range of the experimental, or installations based on models such as Julian Rosefeldt - many certainly remember his Manifesto of 2017 with Cate Blanchett in 12 different roles - we see a great diversity of films.

The cinematic installations of the WATER exhibition enable us to take a new, sensitised and broadly informed perspective on the element. They can already be viewed and purchased either individually or as a complete package. The film Again by Mario Pfeifer will be available online from November 20-22, just as the exhibition was planned.
