Closing Film 2024

A fresh start in the great outdoors: Sophie takes us to the mountains in her latest film 'Shepherds'

On November 17, the 73rd IFFMH will come to a festive close with the German premiere of the Canadian-French production 'Shepherds'. Director Sophie Deraspe transports us to the remoteness of the mountains in this romantic story of a dropout: advertising copywriter Mathyas (Félix-Antoine Duval) flees from Montréal to the idyllic French Provence after a burnout. There he wants to make a fresh start as a shepherd. Although he knows nothing about sheep and the beginning is difficult, he meets Élise (Solène Rigot) and together they try to get a flock of sheep through the summer in the middle of the Alps. Between romance and realism, director Deraspe addresses the need for a pre-modern life and closeness to nature.
