Actress Laura Weissmahr wins Goya Award

The multilingual up-and-coming actress Laura Weissmahr has won one of the Goya Awards. She was honoured as a new actor at the Spanish Film Awards for her role in ›Salve Maria‹. In the drama by Spanish director Mar Coll, Laura Weissmahr plays a young writer and mother who is unable to develop positive feelings towards her baby and falls further and further into a vortex in which she threatens to lose control of herself and her actions. Laura Weissmahr lends her character a captivating ambivalence that skilfully captures the film's shifting tones between drama and thriller. She was honoured for her outstanding performance with our Young Actors Award at the 73rd IFFMH in November. We congratulate her warmly on being honoured with a Goya and look forward to seeing and hearing from her in the future!
