Ausstellungsführung "Kofferkind"
11.11.2024 15:00
The exhibition KOFFERKIND is an artistic reflection on the fate of the children left behind when their parents came to Germany as guest workers in the 1960s and 1970s. These children remained in their home country and grew up without parents for several years. In Turkey alone, there were an estimated 700,000 so-called “suitcase children”.
Fatma Biber-Born collected their childhood photographs and has reinterpreted them in watercolor and ink. Using quotes from interviews, she has created a spatial installation that lets us engage with these dramatic biographies.
On Monday, November 11, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition.
When: 11 Nov | 3 pm | Where: Interkulturelles Zentrum Heidelberg, Bergheimer Str. 147 | completely wheelchair-accessible | Admission: free
