On the run, father and daughter grow closer and closer. However, there can be no happy ending for them. What price is the girl prepared to pay?

Corsica, 1995. It is Lesia’s (Ghjuvanna Benedetti) first shimmering summer as a teenager. Suddenly, she is abducted and taken to an isolated villa – to meet her father, who is in hiding. The island is a powder keg of organized crime, nationalists, and politics. Her father is the head of his organization and his immediate circle has been decimated. Forced to flee together, father and daughter grow closer. But the net around them tightens more and more. Until they are forced to realize that their journey must inevitably come to an end.

Organized crime is deprived of all glamour in this masterfully staged debut feature by director Julien Colonna. Rather, the genre context is a façade for an intimate father-daughter portrait full of precisely observed tender moments.

Director

Having grown up in Corsica, director Julien Colonna incorporated personal memories into his first feature ›The Kingdom‹. He previously studied social sciences and screenwriting in Paris and made internationally acclaimed short films as well as commercials.
