In order to rob a rich heiress, the pickpocket Sook-hee poses as a maid. Park Chan-wook tells this erotic love story as a thriller.

Korea, 1930s: yearning for the fortune of Japanese heiress Hideko, her uncle watches her every turn. That’s why he hires the maid Sook-hee to look after Hideko. What he doesn’t know, however, is that Sook-hee is a pickpocket sent by the fraudster Fujiwara, who is also after Hideko’s money. Fujiwara’s plan seems to be a success, until the two women start to develop feelings for each other.

This stand-out in Park Chan-wook’s oeuvre has won numerous awards. The passionate love story is reflected in the exceptionally opulent costume design.
