Story Time with Mehrdad Zaeri

Every story is unique: the stories of Mannheim-based storyteller and illustrator Mehrdad Zaeri will be created interactively with the audience.

“Lightness“ will be the feeling left over once Mehrdad Zaeri finishes his storytelling and drawing session. As an illustrator and storyteller, he recites stories, true or fictional, entirely in the Persian tradition. Prompted by the audience, a seemingly perfect illustrated story gradually emerges from the tangle of lines and spots that the artist throws onto paper with his eyes closed. The audience can help decide whether the story ends well or sadly. Zaeri will also tell stories from his illustrated books. They speak of life in all its facets, of lightness and humor and of the warm melancholy that we all carry within us. Afterwards, the artist will be happy to answer serious questions about war and peace, faith, home, politics, terrorism and democracy.
