All hell breaks loose on the Mississippi: ›Steamboat Bill, Jr.‹ is a brilliant comedy that pits Buster Keaton against paternal prejudices and the forces of nature.

Whose steamboat is the fastest? On the Mississippi, a grumpy captain and a rich banker are engaged in a fierce competition. Things heat up even more once the captain’s son (Buster Keaton), who prefers his ukulele to boats, falls in love with the banker’s daughter. Both fathers immediately try to put an end to the relationship. ›Steamboat Bill, Jr.‹ is one of Buster Keaton’s most influential films and culminates in a legendary finale: a cyclone devastates a small town, giving Keaton the opportunity to showcase the perfection of his athletic and comedic skills.

Director

Charles Reisner (1887-1962) worked as an actor, appearing alongside Charlie Chaplin, among others. In the mid-1920s he moved behind the camera and directed numerous films until 1950, including many comedies and musicals.
