How did we get to where we are now? A movie that is like a reckoning. Director Athina Rachel Tsangari follows the wrong path of the white old man back to its origins.

Seven days like a fever dream – in a village without a name, sometime in the Middle Ages. Former city dweller Walter Thirsk has pompous philosophical leanings, whereas the somewhat dim-witted lord of the manor, Charles Kent, ideates self-indulgent, unrealistic plans for his village. When strangers suddenly arrive, the two childhood friends are confronted with the intrusion of the outside world and must somehow come to terms with it. In other words, it’s the trauma of modernity.

Athina Rachel Tsangari’s masterful parable traces the painful fault lines of our present back to their origins.

Director

With ›Attenberg‹ and ›Chevalier‹, Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangari firmly established her place in international cinema. Also as the producer of Yorgos Lanthimos’s early films she emerged as an exciting voice in new Greek cinema. ›Harvest‹ is her first English-language film.
