Fairy-tale emancipation: when a father is accidentally turned into a chicken, an Egyptian family is forced to regroup.

Tidying up, cleaning, looking after the children, doing the shopping, cooking, washing up, comforting the crying baby: Rasha’s working day as a mother is tough but structured. However, a failed magic trick performed during the children’s birthday party upsets this rehearsed choreography: Rasha’s bossy husband disappears, and a chicken remains in his place. The failure of the two amateur magicians gives the family an unexpected new beginning. In shots that are as original as they are precise, Omar El Zohairy tells the story of an empowerment against one’s will as a mixture of fairy tale and tragicomedy.
