After seven days on foot, a young miner named Elder has arrived in the Bolivian city of La Paz, which seems as shattered as he is. A coughing body that has breathed too much dust wanders through an overwhelming city that is slowly crumbling to dust. His body grows weaker and the doctor sees no hope for him. Only old Mama Pancha seeks the help of the shaman and Max, the fortune teller, to revive the undead body. In “El Gran Movimiento”, director Kiro Russo continues the story of Elder – a drug-addicted proletarian who was the protagonist of his celebrated feature-film debut, ›Dark Skull‹ – with images that range from documentary clarity to mystical transfiguration.
