Colors, lights, sounds! Amidst the glitz of Monte Carlo, Virgil Vernier transcends the surface and gives us a deeply human experience. A Christmas miracle!

Monte Carlo during the holidays. Glitz, surfaces, banality might be expected here. But with an almost magical touch, Virgil Vernier manages to draw poetry from this constellation. In beguiling images, he brings together an unusual trio: a call boy, a friend who is about to start a new career, and the daughter of super-rich parents whom the friend is babysitting. Together, the three live through an intense but unreal time, as if disconnected from the world. We are offered intimate glimpses into the psyche of these characters. And for at least one of them, nothing will ever be the same again.
