Mohsen Makhmalbaf
Mohsen Makhmalbaf is one of the most influential filmmakers, as well as a founding figure, of the Iranian New Wave. He is the recipient of more than 50 international awards from some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Venice, and Locarno. Time Magazine named his film ‘Kandahar’ one of the best 100 films in the history of cinema. And his film ‘A Moment of Innocence’ was voted as one of the top ten films of the 1990s by the directors of international film festivals. Alongside filmmaking, he also works as a writer and a human rights activist.
