Nirmal Dhar
Nirmal Dhar is the most senior film critic from Kolkata. He has worked for various Bengalu dailies and weeklies for fifty-five years. As the only “festival trotter” from Kolkata he has been a member of the FIPRESCI jury in Armenia, Busan, Taipei or Vladivostok. He also has been on the jury of the Indian National Film Awards. Currently, he is the secretary of the West Bengal Film Journalists' Association and a member of the selection committee of the Kolkata International Film Festival. Nirmal Dhar writes mainly in Bengali and has published more than a dozen books on national and international cinema. He has edited and translated a number of screenplays including some by Thomas Alea (Cuba), Akira Kurosawa (Japan), Jean-Luc Godard (France) and Stanley Kubrick (UK).
