Violeta Kovacsics holds a PhD by the Pompeu Fabra University – her thesis focused on contemporary cinema and philosophy of language. She teaches Film History in ESCAC, the International University of Barcelona, UOC and Pompeu Fabra University. She is chief editor at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. Film critic at Caimán Cuadernos de Cine (former Cahiers du Cinéma Spain), La Vanguardia, Time Out Barcelona and Icat. Articles and essays about the work of filmmakers such as Philippe Garrel, Joe Dante, Georges Franju, Muriel Box and Terence Davies among others. Editor of the book Very Funny Things on new American comedy for the San Sebastián Film Festival.
